Small family farmers and indigenous people are creating new ways to
organize, survive, and prosper as they resist the domination of their
land, seeds and markets by multi-national agribusinesses. Farm worker
and trade activists from Skagit Valley, Whatcom County and Seattle
recently went to the World Social Forum in Brazil to learn how farmers
and farm workers are organizing to make a better world possible for
themselves and their consumers. What are social movements and
governments in the Global South proposing to replace the WTO
agricultural trading system that pits subsidized agribusiness against
small farmers? Come and hear what they learned, and talk about what we
can do to support sustainable local producers and stand in solidarity
with family farmers and farm workers both globally and in Washington
